College Point has two magnificent waterfront parks – MacNeil Park, and Powell’s Cove Park – which are located on the East River and are havens of both active recreation and peaceful enjoyment. They are less than a mile apart on the town’s northeast coast. We focus much of our efforts at these parks, while also working to restore other blighted coastal areas. These include "Big Rock Beach" on the town's southwest coast along Flushing Bay; the public piers adjacent to the Skyline Terrace condominiums, also on Flushing Bay; and, the waterfront just west of the College Point Yacht Club, on the East River (downhill from Powell's Cove Estates). Through environmental workshops, shoreline cleanups, seagrass and oyster plantings, research, and strong parks advocacy, Coastal Preservation Network is creating more vibrant waterfronts and parks, fighting for the improvements we deserve, reconnecting the public to their coastal environment, and strengthening community service and pride.
